yea i just looked it up its called a hydroponic grow box...they cost anywhere from 1500 to 5000 dollrs...the good ones waters the plants for you adds nutrients and cuts on and off lights automatically and it hides the smell supposedly

Yea they work. Your probly gonna need a strain that doesnt get too tall for best results though. You could also set up a system that works better than those for the same amount of money.

Ive always wanted to try to grow in one of those though because they seem so futuristic for some reason

You can build a PC grow box easily, but for a hydro setup I think it's easier to go buy one although they are costly.

I have seen some hydro buckets you can buy $50 bucks a piece one plant a piece...but you could get like 6 of them for $300 and then all you need is a space and a light maybe another $200 for the light. So for about $500 you could have 6 nice big as hydro plants.
